The Shift Forward: Mandatory Online Training for 2026-27 Season
AMHA is rolling out The Shift Forward: Evolving Hockey Culture, a new mandatory online training program for the 2026-27 season. It’s required for all coaches, rostered staff, and officials. On top of that, at least one parent per registrant needs to complete the Parent Program before the season starts.
This isn’t just another box to check. The Shift Forward comes out of an extensive consultation process, including a full Training Needs Analysis of national education and training courses. The feedback was clear: hockey culture training needs to be age-appropriate, modern, engaging, and specific to how people actually experience the game. It’s built to grow with participants as they move through their hockey journey, with a real focus on changing unhealthy behaviours both on and off the ice.
