Notice of the AMHA Annual General Meeting (AGM) June 17- Call for Nominations and Agenda Items
Dear Members of the Avalon Celtics Community,
Notice is hereby given that the 2026 Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Avalon Minor Hockey Association (AMHA) will be held as follows:
Date: June 17, 2026
Time: 07:00 p.m.
Location: Royal Canadian Legion Branch 1, 57 Blackmarsh Road, St. John’s, NL
The AGM provides members in good standing with an opportunity to review the operations of the Association, receive reports from the Board and Executive, review the Association’s financial statements, vote on proposed by-law amendments, and elect members to the Board of Directors, in accordance with the AMHA Articles of Association. It’s an important opportunity for members to participate in the governance of the Association, contribute ideas, and help guide the future direction of Celtics hockey.
Attending the AGM – Registration is Required
Member registration for the AGM is required. Please register in advance using the following link. Registration will remain open until 5:00PM on the day of the AGM June 17th, 2026:

Call for Agenda Items – AGM
Members are invited to submit items for inclusion on the AGM agenda.
- Agenda item submission deadline: Tuesday, June 10, 2026, one (1) week prior to the AGM.
- No additional agenda items will be accepted or added after this deadline
Agenda items must be submitted in writing to the Secretary/Registrar at: Secretary@avalonceltics.com
Board Positions Open for Election
Pursuant to Article 4.1, the following Board positions will be up for election at the 2026 AGM:
Two‑Year Terms
- President(Executive position)
- Registrar / Secretary(Executive position)
- Director – U7 & U9 Hockey
- Director – At Large
One‑Year Terms
- Treasurer (Executive position)
- Director – At Large
- Director – At Large
Executive Officers and Directors are elected for two‑year terms and must be members in good standing of the Association, as outlined in Articles 4 and 5. In this election, 3 positions are also going up for 1-year terms to align with board election proposed bylaw amendments.
Call for Nominations – Board of Directors
In accordance with Article 4 – Nominations of the AMHA By‑Laws, the Board has struck a Nominations Committee, and this notice hereby issues a formal Call for Nominations, which is being made more than thirty (30) days in advance of the AGM. Nominations will close one (1) week prior to the AGM on June 10th, as prescribed under Article 4.1. The Nominations form can be found at the link below.

Nomination Requirements
All nominations must:
- Be submitted on the following AMHA Board Position Nominations Form:
- Be received no later than June 10th, 2026, one (1) week prior to the AGM as set out in Article 4.1
- Candidates wishing to stand for more than one position must submit a separate Nomination form for each position:
Eligible nominees must be voting members in good standing and qualified to serve as volunteers with the Association, in accordance with Article 2 and Article 4. Questions comments about the nomination and election process can be sent to the nominations committee at nominations@avalonceltics.com
Proposed By‑Law Amendments
In accordance with Article 13.1, the Board has proposed amendments to the AMHA By‑Laws. Full details of the proposed amendments, along with the rationale, was sent to the membership this evening for review in advance of the meeting. The bylaw changes will be presented to the membership for consideration and approval in a vote at the AGM. Approval requires a two‑thirds majority of members present.
