Subject: MCHL Assessments Begin This Weekend at DF Barnes Arena

Dear Avalon Celtics Families,

We’re excited to announce that MCHL assessments for U11 and U13 will begin this weekend at DF Barnes Arena. With strong registration numbers this season, we are in a great position to ice our own Avalon Celtics teams in both divisions. Please note that all assessments will be conducted in-house this year. There will be no joint assessments with other

Associations.

Assessment schedules will be posted shortly on our website. The intention of these assessments is to allow us to create evenly balanced teams. No cuts will be made from this group; everyone will have a team. Please keep an eye out for updates and ensure your player is ready to hit the ice.

U15 evaluations are still being finalized, and we’ll provide updates shortly.

What is MCHL?

U11 – U18 Teams will participate in the Metro Club Hockey League (MCHL) for competitive game play against other associations. U11 – U13 games will generally be weekly on Sundays either at DF Barnes Arena (home games) or at another association’s rink (away games). Teams will be set up in TeamSnap to help coordinate time, location and attendance at games.

Other teams in the MCHL are:

  • Bell Island Miners
  • Mount Pearl Blades
  • Southern Shore Breakers
  • CBS Renegades
  • Goulds Pacers
  • Paradise Warriors
  • St. John’s Caps

We will have opportunities to join other MCHL teams for tournaments throughout the year and there will be a final year end tournament for each level at the end of the season.
